Hi! I’m Merida. In a previous life, I went on a grand adventure with my mother, fighting bears and stuff. Disney/Pixar made a movie about it. You should watch it. But now I am made of plastic and spend most of my life inside Marjorie’s pocket. But on the 20th of September, Marjorie took me on a grand adventure to Scotland on a Rick Steves tour. And now she is letting me tell you about it. This is the first photo; it’s me at the Edinburgh airport.

And this is Marjorie.  She loves travel and this trip to Scotland is her 5th trip to Europe, but her first Rick Steves tour (though she got her first Rick Steves guidebook in 2001)!  She also loves her dollies and has been keeping a blog for them for about 5 years.  Sometimes dollies get to go with her on travel adventures, and you can read about them on the blog My Dolly Addiction.  I'm the first of her dollies to get a whole website to myself.  That makes me feel so special.  And we owe it all to Uncle Rick.

Do you know Uncle Rick?  He's not really our uncle, but sometimes he lets us call him that.  His name is Rick Steves, and he writes European travel guidebooks, has a TV series on PBS, and has a tour company.  Our tour is called the Best of Scotland in 10 days.  Be sure to visit the Rick Steves website to learn more!

And how about a quick word on how to navigate this website?  For the most part, it's an illustrated narrative of our adventures.  At the bottom of most pages is a strip of photos.  Hover over them to make them wider, or click them to be taken to a slide show you can click through (mobiles and tablets don't hover, so just tap).  Click the "Keep on Travelin'" button (borrowed that phrase from Uncle Rick--he says that on all his TV shows) to go to the next page of the narrative, or you can navigate to a specific page with the menus at the top and bottom.  I hope you like reading about my trip to Scotland as much as I liked being in Scotland!
