Near the sheepdog farm, we had lunch in the town of Aviemore. Aviemore is actually a ski resort town, located in the Cairngorms National Park. There were a lot of stores to buy outerwear!

After we finished eating we went on a little hike. The scenery was quite a bit different from our hike the day before, because it was a whole lot drier.

Our hike ended at Green Loch.  It really is green, and nothing like Seattle’s Green Lake!

On our hike, we passed people who had been hiking for days!  There are trails throughout the Scottish Highlands, and you can connect a lot and see some beautiful scenery.  We hiked for about 30 minutes.  If we wanted, we could have abandoned our Rick Steves Tour and just kept walking!

Day 5...headed to the Highlands
