Naptime on Wednesday was just under 2 hours.  And then it was time to meet the tour group!  We had a little intro meeting in the B&B.  Rick Steves tours use the buddy system; you pick a buddy that you’ve never met before, and then we do a buddy check before moving on to the next destination.  My buddy was the lady sitting next to me, and she ended up being a pharmacy technician at the pharmacy closest to Marjorie’s first apartment, about a mile from the house she grew up in.  Small world.

You can see part of our tour group in the above photo.  After our introduction, we set off on a walking tour of Edinburgh’s New Town.  In the photo,  we are following our guide's advice and sitting.  Travel tip: whilst on walking tours, sit down at every opportunity, because you won't always have the chance.

It may be called Edinburgh's New Town, but in this case “new” refers to 1740.  It's a Georgian planned community with gridded blocks and row homes.

Our walking tour ended with a group dinner.  I left dinner as soon as possible, along with the other people who had arrived in Edinburgh that morning.  We were so tired!  I wish we had allowed more time to adjust to jetlag before our tour began.  But oh, I slept so well that first night in Scotland!
